Built in 1920 and located in the Silver Lake Hills, in Los Angeles, the style of this House is the so-called Spanish Colonial. The client, a young couple of businessmen, wanted a House that was easy and practice, both to receive friends, how to deal with a daily basis involving children and dogs-but that was still warm and comfortable.
Fit so Krista Schrock and David John Dick, founders of the company Disc Interiors, transforming the charming property in a home that matched the needs of the residents. “The couple likes to design and really appreciate the quality of handcrafted and vintage objects,” says Krista over experience. “They understand our concept of mixing old and new. Were great to work with and we had a lot of freedom to do what we thought were the best options. ”
In the lobby the decorators made a tribute to the profession of the couple through an elegant minimalist tubular luminaire (design of Billy Cotton), which refers to the field of technology in which the husband works. Was preserved the beautiful wooden ceiling painted with art deco motifs and that already existed in the House, heritage of the previous owners. “We wanted to accentuate the metallic paint on the ceiling: gold, silver and copper; that’s why we chose the lamp polished tubes of Billy Cotton to make a connection with the lines of the roof and give a glow to the room. The delicate forms of chandelier contrasts with the heavy references from the rafters, “says Krista.
In the living room combined handcrafted and VTG (meaning: http://www.abbreviationfinder.org/), as the couple’s taste. The main sofa and pouf, which also serves for storage, was designed for the dual Disc itself, with fabric of Pindler & Pindler (couch), and Zak & Fox (Ottoman). Already the couch by the fire is the Lawson Fenning. To reinforce the classic touch, the environment received an old Spanish Cabinet wood, a chair with high back and grey fabric from Ralph Lauren, and the Chair in brown leather of the Danish designer Borge Mogensen.
In the dining room, a round table with wood top and metal base, Thomas Hayes Gallery, left plenty of room for the Hollywood chairs at Home and comfort to his legs. Illuminating the environment, a chandelier of the Apparatus and a modern table lamp Vintage Marx.
Also designed by Disc, the guest room bed uses fabric of Templeton, wallpaper inspired by the wood and the retro One luminaire Nobilis Forty Three.
Throughout the project, the white walls and the abundant Windows give plenty of light spaces, creating environments stripped and that enhance the design of the parts used. “It’s the contrast of light and darkness, new and old. Tried to use it as a theme of this project, because the Spanish style houses tend to be darker, heavier, “says Krista. “The idea was to bring brightness and light elements to balance the home”.
